Cab Interchangability

During my Restoration, I decided that I would be needing an new cab for my truck. I and other people questioned the compatability of cabs from one truck to another. It gets complicated, so I thought I would write this to try to help others.
The cabs from any 1957-1960 A or B series truck will interchange.( this is true for any truck of this series, from 100-180 or however big they get. I have been told that there may be a differance in the floor, such as no hump for the transmission. 100-130's used smaller wheel wells in the fenders.) The A and B cabs are nearly identical except for some small changes in the number of slots in the vent under the windshield, and the rain gutter over the door. Here is where it gets interesting. In 1961, IH changed the cab design. At a glance, it appears to be the same, but upon closer inspection, it is different. The cab is shorter, and there is a differance in the step under the door, so it can not be used to replace an A or B cab. How ever, there is an exception in 1961. In 1961, (continuing to 63 i believe) They continued to make the B series trucks in the mid sizes (160 range). These years, they used the same cab as the previous B series, but they used the doors from the newer cab style. They put in a filler panel of about 4 inches under the door to make up for the gap. Cabs from these truck should work on a 57-60 truck, but the doors will be slightly different.
I am not 100% sure, but I have also been informed that the cabs from any loadstar are the same style as there A and B series trucks. There are several apparent differences though. The floor does not have the transmission hump, and there is likely a problem with fenders fitting to these cabs.
None of this information is gaurenteed. It is what I was told in my research, and it I what I would act on, however, I can not say without a doubt that it is true. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask, I may be able to find the answer. If you would like to see pictures of the differances in the cabs, i can direct you to where you can find them
